Eating Disorder & Disordered Eating Recovery

Find safety in the body & increase the capacity to eat

Eating disorders show up in different ways and occur in many different body sizes and shapes. They fall along a continuum; you may have a diagnosis or perhaps you don’t quite meet full criteria for an eating disorder, yet you find yourself constantly struggling with food, and you’re tired of it.

Eating disorders they take up energy and space away from your relationships. They hold you back from fully engaging in your life.

Not sure if you have an eating disorder? See below for some common signs & symptoms.

Recovery from disordered eating is possible!

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help. I support people who are anywhere along the recovery journey. Some people come to me having just been diagnosed with an eating disorder, and others come to me after years of struggling alone.

Signs that you're ready for support

You want to:

  • Spend less mental energy worrying about food and what to eat.
  • Eat in a flexible way to meet your body’s biological nutrition needs.
  • Learn ways to attend to urges to restrict, binge, or purge.
  • Reconnect with your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
  • Be able to eat comfortably in front of others.
  • Make peace with your body and spend less time thinking about it.

My Approach

I believe that our bodies are an important resource in eating disorder recovery. Our bodies have a story and the behaviours of restricting, binge eating, purging, and body checking might actually be an expression of what the body is needing, wanting and missing.

Because our bodies are actually *really* good at letting us know what it needs.

Recovery from disordered eating involves turning toward our bodies and attend to what we might really need. Helping our bodies feel safe inside is a big part of this and I often work with clients to use different tools and strategies to find safety.

I bring a gentle curiousity (and playfulness!) to our work together. I also bring together my experience with nutrition, mind, and body to do this work.

Nutrition

I complete a nutrition assessment and offer you feedback on how you’re doing with meeting your body’s nutrition needs. I work with you to brainstorm ideas and come up with a rough plan to help nourish your body.

Mind

We explore the beliefs that you have about food and the rules and rituals that you follow. I support you to challenge your food fears and start to unlearn diet culture beliefs around food + body size.

Body

I help you to reconnect in your body in a safe way. We use resources and tools to support your body. We start to build nervous system capacity for eating and taking care of your body.
